Where can I find the DermLite app?

You can download the DermLite app for free from the Apple App Store.

A version for Android phones is in the pipeline.

Will the app only be available on iPhone? Is Android coming?

The Dermlite app is designed to provide the best experience with iPhone. 
An Android version is in the works. 

What are the system requirements for DermLite and Hub?

The specific system requirements are listed in the respective user manuals for DL5 Plus, the DermLite app, and Hub.

What the maximum magnification of the DL5 Plus in the app?

The only zoom level exposed by software is close to FotoFinder’s definition “~20×”.   

What languages are supported by the DermLite app?

The DermLite app is available in various languages to meet the needs of our users worldwide.
The user interface language can be customized. The user manual is also available in various languages.

Is trichoscopy also possible?

While the DermLite app does not currently support trichoscopic image analysis, it may still be used to capture and monitor scalp and hair conditions.

Does the DermLite app replace the handyscope app and the Hub account related to it?

The Dermlite app is intended to eventually replace the handyscope Pro app later in 2026.

Hub accounts are not device or app-dependent. A handyscope app user may use their already existing Hub account with the Dermlite app.

Does the DermLite app work with Universe (like the Wireless app)?

No.
The FotoFinder Hub and FotoFinder Universe are two separate solutions.
The Dermlite app only works with Hub cloud solution. 

Can different dermatoscopes be used with the same account? Does this require a Premium plan?

You can use as many DermLite scopes as you wish on the same account, regardless of plan.

Premium plans allow simultaneous access from multiple apps. Example: skeen + DL app.  

How do dermatoscopes calibrate automatically for the device that do not have Bluetooth.

Internal procedures are used to calibrate the zoom level.  

White balance calibration requires the lens with BL connection.  

We might eventually reveal the manual calibration procedure, which would need the client to set the necessary lighting. (far too prone to mistakes).  

Does DermLite app only save and sync images to Hub or is it also possible to save images to camera roll?

We always store in the application's local storage.  

Also we synchronize with the Hub – considering the available cloud storage.  

Next versions, the System Share function will be used to save pictures to shared Photos storage or any othe software, just like the Share function in handyscope pro.  

Can I create a patient profile in the DermLite app without having to subcribe to Hub?

Yes, free subscription provides full access to patient information management features.  

How do I connect my device to the DermLite app?

How do I set the different light modes?

You can set different light modes in the app and on the device. You can choose between cross-polarized light, non-polarized light, parallel-polarized light, and UV light. We also explain PigmentBoost®.

How do I install the Magnetic Clamp (MCC)?

Just like with DL5, a physical clamp adapter (MCC, included) or an iPhone-specific DL Connection Kit is needed. 
The app communicates wirelessly to activate DL5 Plus lighting modes. 

How to reset my DermLite.

To reset the device to it’s factory defaults and remove all paired devices from memory press the following button sequence while the device is off: (UV)-(PB)-(PB)-(UV)-(PB)-(PB)-(UV). The BLE indicator (BLE) will flash to confirm.

My skeen doesn’t recognize the lens.

Remove the lens, clean it, clean the contacts and re-attach it ensuring it fits properly.

What to do if my skeen is in screening mode?


  1. Check your subscription is valid
  2. Make sure the skeen device is charged.
  3. Open the ‘Settings’ and select ‘Synchronization’ (Leave the device open)
  4. Use a PC and log in to hub.fotofinder.de/settings/devices (Settings -> My Devices) and unlink the skeen device (the trashcan symbol). Confirm the unlink.
  5. In the Top Right Click on ‘+ Add new device’ (a QR code will appear)
  6. After unlinking the device, on the skeen device open ‘Settings -> Synchronization’ and try to login again.
  7. Select sign in with QR code and scan the displayed QR code

How many phones/logins can I have for one Hub account?

All accounts have 1 active user/device except for "Premium" which has 2 active users/devices. Additional users/devices can be added to any account for an extra charge.
