Dynamole Software Module
A Diagnostic Aid for the Early Detection of Melanoma
Software module Dynamole is a diagnostic aid for the early detection of malignant melanoma. This program was developed with two objectives in mind:
- To make an exact comparison possible between two images of a pigmented lesion which were produced from over the course of time. In this way it should be possible to measure changes in the size, structure and color of the lesion.
- The second objective of the program is to improve the process by which the distinctions between benign and malignant melanocytic skin changes are made by using computer-aided algorithms. The computer-aided algorithms differ from the specimen analysis which the clinician carries out using the dermoscopic image. As a result, the computer-aided scores allows the dermatologist to make an additional assessment, which they can also include in their diagnostic findings.
The computer-aided method of diagnosis cannot replace the medical method of diagnosis – it should only be considered as a support system. However, the computer is capable of drawing the doctor’s attention to unusual lesions, which may have not been observed previously.
DYNAMOLE IS ONLY A DIAGNOSTIC AID, THE FINAL DIAGNOSIS IS ALWAYS THE FULL RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PHYSICIAN.
