Trichoscan is great software module for digital hair analysis. Developed to document and quantify diffuse hair loss, Trichoscan automatically calculates the number of hairs, hair density as well as the anagen/telogen ratio. The number and density of vellus and terminal hair is also determined. The examination is painless and delivers great results that help evaluating the effectiveness of hair treatments.
The procedure is easy: An area of approximately 1cm² on the scalp, close to the parting, is dipped to about 1mm length; a template for clipping comes with Trichoscan. Three days later the clipped hair are dyed. Then, a microscopic image in 20X magnification is taken with FotoFinder camera, saved in the database and Trichoscan analysis is started. The basic software principle is that anagen hair grows 0.3mm per day, whereas telogen hair does not grow at all.
